Hiraku counts every fold of your iPhone Duo.
One close and one open count as one. This page covers counting while Hiraku is closed, common questions, and how to get in touch.
Counting while Hiraku is closed
iOS only lets an app watch the hinge while it's on screen. To count the folds you make while Hiraku is closed, it needs the one-time unlock and a Shortcuts automation that tells it each time your phone opens. Until it's unlocked, folds made while Hiraku is closed aren't counted.
To set it up, open Hiraku and tap the line about counting while closed. Setup has three steps:
- Unlock counting while closed. It's a one-time purchase.
- Add the shortcut, switch its automation on, and tap Add Shortcut.
- Close your phone and open it again. Hiraku confirms that it works.
If it stops counting
Hiraku notices when Shortcuts stops reporting and says so on its main screen. Open Shortcuts and find the Hiraku shortcut. Check that its automation is switched on. Then tap the Info button, then Privacy, and make sure Allow Running When Locked is on. Finish by running the test again from Hiraku's setup.
Questions
What counts as a fold?
One close and one open. The count goes up when your phone opens past 30 degrees after being folded, so cracking it open and letting it fall shut doesn't count.
I bought the unlock, but counting while closed is off.
In Hiraku, tap the More button (…), then Restore purchase. Use the same Apple Account you bought it with.
Can I get a refund?
Refunds go through Apple. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.
Will my count move to a new iPhone?
Yes, when you bring your data across from your old iPhone. The count is saved on your iPhone and travels with its backups.
Does Hiraku work on other iPhones?
No. Hiraku needs iPhone Duo. On any other iPhone it says so and counts nothing.
How do I start again from zero?
Tap the More button (…), then Reset count. This clears the count and its history.
